Measure Your Life by Your Growth, Not Their Pace

Feeling behind? Well, this is a reminder that the feeling of being "behind" comes from comparison. It's not the reality.

No matter what career you pursue, you'll always feel behind. You'll always feel more stupid, more lazy, less competitive, and many more. But you're not. And don't think like that. It's toxic. Be ridiculously optimistic about your life. Comparison is the killer of happiness. The moment you measure your life against someone else's timeline, you convince yourself you're behind. You'll never truly be happy. There'll always be something that you feel like you're lacking in. But you're not. You never were. I want you to know that. If you really want to compare something, compare you to your past life. Look at the version of you from a year ago, two years ago, five years ago. Haven't you accomplished so much more than before? Even if it's something small, it's something. The past version of you would be happy. They would be shocked at how far you've come. They would be proud of the opportunities you created, the risks you took, the nights you stayed up chasing something you actually cared about. If you told them that you would get all these amazing opportunities, they wouldn't believe you. 'What do you mean I got to accomplish this? This is amazing. I would give anything to be where you are' is what they would tell you.

But pressure makes you forget. Stress makes you blind to your own progress. You forget to celebrate those small wins because you convinced yourself they weren't big enough. But they were. They still are.

You stayed up until 5 AM and woke up at 7 AM to take an exam? That wasn't failure or a stupid decision from procrastinating. That was effort. At least you got those extra hours to study before the exam. No matter the outcome, you tried. You made an opportunity for yourself. Not a lot of people will chase for things. But the fact that you chase over something you actually love…is amazing. Know that. Acknowledge that. Because it's rare. So stop telling yourself you're behind. Stop acting like life is a race you're losing. Remind yourself of the life you lived before the life you live today.

Because…how can you be behind in your life, when it's YOUR life? Think about it.
